This week I extended my sports media to video and tape recording with the play by play sports broadcasting camp in Boston. They travel to Atlanta,Baltimore,Boston,Chicago,Columbus,Los Angeles,North Jersey,Philadelphia and South Florida. It’s for ages 10-18.On Monday you get introduced to the camp and hear from,Jessica Moran,Justin Green and Jackie McMullen. On Tuesday the camp splits into 3 groups by age. They’re ages 10-12,me,13-15 and 16-18.One is anchoring on video, stand ups,TV play by play, play by play machines and a radio talk show.Group 2 is playing Stump The Schwab and radio shows with Paul Jolovitz.Group 3 is recording play by play for radio of the world series, super bowl,NBA finals and your local team in the playoffs and a trivia contest. You then start new stations Wednesday afternoon because the first ones go until noon on Wednesday.Group 1 is Sports Family Feud and practicing preamp and post game shows with Bruins radio announcer Dave Goucher.Group 2 is a PTI contest and Group 3 is ranting, radio play by play,In Your Face or PTI videos, doing ESPN top 10 plays and doing an NFL preview show for the upcoming season. On Friday you go to Fenway Park for a tour,do a sports Jeopardy contest,do a final camp review, and get prizes for winning contest as camp closes at 3 although the other days are 9-4.So,throughout the week you make videos to go on YouTube and record yourself and you get to keep it on your tape recorder. Its a great expierience and I recommend if you are age 10-18 and really like sports, you try it out next summer.
